Rapid Charger

The VAC-300 is a Desktop Rapid Charger that enables charging of Lithium-Ion Battery Packs

for Vertex Standard transceivers*.

The VAC-300 consists of the PA-42 Battery Charger and the CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger.

Operation

1. Insert the DC plug from the PA-42 Battery Charger into the DC jack

on the bottom side of the CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger, then plug

the PA-42 Battery Charger into the AC line outlet.

2. Insert the battery pack into the CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger while

aligning the slots of the battery pack with the guides in the nest of

the CD-34; refer to the illustration below for details on proper posi

tioning of the battery pack. Ifcharging with the transceiver attached,

turn the transceiver off, and the antenna jack should be at the left

side when viewing the charger from the front.

3. Ifthe battery pack is inserted correctly, the LED indicator will glow

red. A fully-discharged pack will be charged completely in approximately 2 hours.

4. The LED indicator will change to green when charging is nearing completion. The battery

pack becomes fully charged approximately 30 minutes later.

5. When charging is completed, remove the battery pack from the CD-34 Desktop Rapid

Charger, and unplug the PA-42 Battery Charger from the AC line outlet.

Important Notes!

O Do not connect an improper Battery Charger. Use only the supplied PA-42 Battery Charger.

O Do not charge an improper battery (one not specifically designed for use in the VAC-300).

O Disconnect the pack from the CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger, and unplug the PA-42 Bat

tery Charger from the AC line outlet, when charging is completed.

O The PA-42 Battery Charger and/or CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger will generate a moder

ate amount of heat during the charging process. This is a normal condition.

O The VAC-300 is designed for charging only, and is not designed for operation (transmis

sion/reception) of the transceiver.

O Periodically wipe the charging terminals in the nest of the CD-34 Desktop Rapid Charger,

using a dry cloth, to ensure good connections between the charger and battery.
